About the America Series
The Series was developed with a vision of transforming the wheelchair racing sport model. Historically, wheelchair racing events have been stand-alone, with little or no coordination. Standards that would link events into a coherent season were absent, preventing the opportunity to name an overall regional or world champion. Athletes were on their own to identify the best competitions, and once identified, on getting to them. The Series addressed these breakdowns and, driven by athlete feedback and directed by race organizers' experiences, pursued the goal of enhancing the experience for all. The Series identifies and works with events that stand out and have long-term growth potential, supporting better housing, transportation, competition surface and timing standards solutions. The Series not only acts as a catalyst for increasing prize money and support, but, more importantly, it drives ongoing stories and creates ongoing interest around these events. The Series and its staff will keep working at being on the forefront of change and advancement. For 2005, there are many changes for athletes, staff, coaches and sponsors to enjoy. The biggest of these will be to have more fun, more parties and more socializing around the events. We hope your experience reflects our desire and efforts. Purse and Scoring Information >>> |
