Home of the America Series
![]() Canada's Chantal Petitclerc set a world record in the 800 meters during Friday's The Meet in the Heat, dashing any hope for second-place finisher, Spain's Santiago Sanz. Her performance nullified his course record in Monday's Peachtree 10K and ensured her first America Series crown. In addition to the world record, Petitclerc finished with course records in the Rolling Rampage 10K and the Cedartown 5K, and narrowly missed setting another at the NK Long Island 10K. The America Series victory continues a dazzling string of successes for Petitclerc in the past 12 months. She won five gold medals in September's Athens Paralympics and has been named Canada's Female Athlete of the Year. Past champions Thomas Geierspichler and Ernst Van Dyk finished sixth and seventh, respectivley.
