Fearnley Gets Outeniqua Record
Australia’s Kurt Fearnley won the 42.2 km marathon of the 2007 Game Outeniqua Wheelchair Challenge in George, South Africa, on February 17 in a time of 1.33.35, a course record. He narrowly beat the current Outeniqua Wheelchair Challenge Champion and four times past winner, Ernst van Dyk, who finished in 1.33.49. The field included eight top-ranked athletes from five countries.
Sandra Graf from Switzerland narrowly beat Diane Roy from Canada in the Woman’s 42.2km marathon in a time of 1.49.20
Now in its fifth year, the race is open to paraplegics, quadriplegics and men and women with cerebral palsy. For more information visit http://www.game-occ.co.za
